Radio Revenues to Steadily Rise, Fueled by Online Surge

Over-the-air (OTA) local radio station revenues were relatively flat at $14.1 billion in 2011, up just 0.4% from a year earlier, but are predicted to increase at a faster rate in the next 5 years, says BIA/Kelsey in an April 2012 forecast. Much of this growth will be driven by online revenues, which increased 15.1% in 2011 to reach $439 million. Overall, radio industry revenue is predicted to reach $14.5 billion this year, up 3.5% from last year, and to hit $17 billion in 2016, representing a 21% increase over 2011′s results. (more…)
